Free Press special writer Jon Machota is live blogging the festivities during the city for the 2009 Detroit marathon. Stay with us for updates Detroit.There people in a close fight in the men marathon title, and Nick Stanko Haslett on the list.

Stanko, 28, was neck-and-neck with 2nd-place finisher Chad Johnson for most of the race, including the finish. They rotated off throughout the race as for who would lead the pack. Stanko took over with 4 miles left and never relinquished the lead, though. He clocked in at a time of 2:20.23 and was very happy with the layout of the route. It's really interesting seeing the really wide range of emotions of the people as they finish the race.

The faces of some nations' to see the full suffering of others weeping cross the line, while others just laugh and have a good time.Travis Peruski, 30, from Linden hit the first division is prohibited. He participated in the past, Detroit Free Press / Flag Star Marathon events but never won a race before today.
