Nothing like a little healthy debate to keep things alive. If the setting is Cape kidnappers luxury lodge and guests, including teachers' Aussie and Kiwi wine James Halliday Master of Wine Bob Campbell struggled out of the difference between Syrah and Shiraz will be an event to remember.

The Great Shiraz Challenge takes place on October 24 and sees Halliday lining up five examples of Australian shiraz from Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula to take on Bob Campbell's line-up from New Zealand's Gimbletts Gravel region in the Hawkes Bay. Viva asked the two wine buffs to defend their argument.


The best examples are intense, powerful wine with enough stature to stand beside the world's largest wine Syrah.
