The St. Vrain Valley School District are open and buses running in the morning, after school activities will be stopped "When we woke up moening we had probably less than 2 inches of snow," said a school district spokesman John Poynton. "We're going to cancel all after school activities. ... We continue to see reports that we get hit harder in evening.The neighboring Boulder Valley School District closed today.
The winter storm warning for an area that includes Longmont continues until 6 p.m. Thursday. According to Times-Call weather consultant Dave Larison, Longmont had 2.5 inches of snowfall overnight bringing both the monthly and seasonal total in the city to 6.2 inches. Normal snowfall for the season to date is 3 inches. Snowfall on Oct. 9 launched Longmont's snowfall season earlier than normal.

Snow is expected to fall throughout the day in areas under storm warning, which also includes Fort Collins, Hereford, Loveland, Nunn, Arvada, Boulder, Golden, Lakewood, Aurora, Brighton, Denver, Denver International Airport, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Parker, Castle Rock, Elbert, Fondis, Kiowa, Larkspur, Briggsdale, Grover, Pawnee Buttes, Raymer, Stoneham, Eaton, Fort Lupton, Greeley, and Roggen.
